Anti-spam utilities have come a long way in a very short time, due to the preponderance of spam and the associated malware delivered with it. You need to keep spam under control and the only way to do it nowadays is through two means: Software and self-reliance.
Having software identify possible spam is the only effective way to keep spam to a minimum, but you also have to make your email less “spam-ready.”
How?
NEVER spell out your email address on a web page. The “spam-bots” love that! Automated computer programs search the Internet for easy email addresses that they can then send unsolicited email to.
Also, NEVER EVER respond to spam. Responding, especially to those emails that have “unsubscribe” links in them, only encourages the spam-bots; now, they KNOW your email address is one that is actively read.
Here are some utilities you can use to help lessen the burden of spam:
BitDefender
SpamFighter
ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite
Choosing any one of these three will get you excellent spam protection. ZoneAlarm’s solution will, however, offer you the most versatility and very good functionality. Use ZoneAlarm’s product if you want a “one-size-fits-all” solution that will not only tackle your spam-prevention, but also your virus- and adware-prevention tasks.
